AIC Core Positions

AIC recognizes that what makes an employee successful on our team is not always tied to a college degree. As outlined above, there are many characteristics our team members have in common that have led to their success. We are very particular about who we add to our team, and we strive to find employees who fit our culture and value our customers. Take a look below to see some basic information on some of our core positions.

  • This has been the starting point for several of our best senior level specialists. This is the entry level position that provides critical assistance to project teams by performing tasks such as drawing updates, wire terminations, HMI/SCADA layout, and basic troubleshooting. As you progress, you will begin working on basic PLC programming, basic design of HMI/SCADA screens, and instrument set up and testing. Building your skills slowly along with coaching from your senior teammates builds a strong foundation for your skillset.

  • This position takes the plan to the field and brings things to life. Many of these positions are filled by Automation Technicians who have grown their skills or entry level engineering graduates. Our Automation Specialists are able to take a fully designed process and execute a project to make it operational. Key capabilities for this role include the ability to read and interpret drawings & schematics, PLC programing and debugging, start up support and I/O checkout, complete understanding of electrical layout and function, and excellent communication skills. This is where you will also learn to train, mentor, and develop the skills of our new teammates. A few years in this position gives you an excellent background to move on up.

  • This position pulls all of the training and experience together to provide solutions to our customer. The Sr. Automation Specialist succeeds first by building strong, long-term relationships with our customers. With the customer’s confidence in hand, this position will resolve a customer’s need by evaluating a process or system need, designing, proposing, and pricing a solution; performing or delegating tasks, and following up on customer satisfaction. The Sr. Automation Specialist Position typically has an engineering degree, demonstrated history of success at AIC, or verified track record of success in our industry.

  • When the technical project work is complete, AIC not only performs required testing, we also help our customers create commissioning/validation test procedures and documentation. Based on our long history working within regulated industries, we have developed a solid understanding of what is needed to commission and validate a new system. Employees in this position typically have strong skills in reading and understanding processes and envisioning how to verify proper operation. Successful candidates in this position typically have industrial engineering degrees, or backgrounds in quality assurance or engineering. Non-engineering candidates with a high level of attention to detail and excellent documentation and communication skills succeed here as well.

  • Our Senior Automation Technicians perform project management over the technical aspects of their assigned projects. Frequently, these technical projects are a smaller portion of more extensive projects that include installation of electrical systems, equipment, piping, facility modifications, etc. When our customers do not have sufficient manpower to manage the entire project, AIC’s project managers can fill that role. Successful candidates in this position typically have construction or project management experience, prior industrial plant project experience, or demonstrated experience managing AIC automation projects. Typical skills for this position include critical path planning, milestone management, reading project related drawings, purchasing & receiving, excellent communication skills, and most importantly safety.

A career with room to grow

AIC’s strategy is to hire employees uniquely matched to our culture, provide an environment that fosters innovation, and watch the team create magic. We have found that as employees gain experience, they often find their skills evolve in directions they never dreamed. Accordingly, we have developed our career path so that as you grow, you can change directions at several levels during your career. You will always be able to find a challenge that invigorates you.

We believe in recognizing and rewarding hard work

Life is too short to work a job you don't enjoy.

Our company president and vice president began here decades ago and enjoyed the atmosphere so much, they stayed to run the company. They maintain a culture that helps each employee perform at their highest level. No micromanaging — just making the most of your natural curiosity and innovative spirit.
